From Kalbarri onwards the trip was mainly about seeing orchids ( and other plants), which will be dealt with separately. Mullewa was a wonderland of everlasting flowers:

Pindar was the home of the remarkable Wreath Flower:

We stopped for a few days at Geraldton, to get our van serviced, then onto the wonderful Western Flora Caravan Park at Eneabba, base of Alan Tinker, nature guide extraordinaire. Amongst all the wonderful orchids and plants, I thought this was a beautiful piece of industrial design in its final resting place:

and we found this thorny little fellow endearing despite his fearsome name (Moloch Horridus):

Jurien Bay and Cervantes were a base to visit the magnificent Lesueur National Park, whose exceptionally diverse flora of more than 820 species includes many plants found nowhere else in the world, and represents 10 per cent of the State's known flora. We climbed Mount Lesueur:

We saw lots of plant life, and some snakes, at Mt Lesueur but were disappointed we did not glimpse the endangered Carnaby's White-tailed Black Cockatoo in its primary habitat. Next day, having driven some distance on down the road, we stopped the car in a hurry for this shot:
After several more orchid expeditions, at Moura and Wongan Hills, we cheated and dumped our van in a caravan Park, and booked into an inner city Perth Hotel for three nights, where we dined out, went to theatres, art galleries and exhibitions, and all the other things we hadn't been doing for months :-)
